We Take On All Types Of Plumbing Tasks In The Home

General Plumbing

Showers, Baths and Sinks

Whether you are in the process of renovating your bathroom or even if there is simply a fitting that is no longer functioning as well as it should, bathroom fixtures and fittings often need replacing.

We are able to cater to all requirements, from simple maintenance and repair and the installation of sanitaryware, through to full bathroom refurbishments.

Toilet Cistern and Flush Problems

Most toilet flush problems originate in the cistern. The purpose of the cistern is to store water and to house the parts required to empty and refill the cistern when the toilet is flushed. The cistern usually contains two major parts: the filling/inlet valve and the flush valve/siphon.

A running toilet can be a constant source of irritation, not to mention a waste of water. If your toilet cistern sounds like it is constantly filling, it may be time to replace the inlet or flush valve, or both.

Repairs of this nature are usually straightforward and should take between 1–2 hours, depending on the style of toilet. See our Prices section for more details or give us a call on 020 3858 0277 to discuss.

Blockages

Blockages can often be treated using household drain unblocking chemicals or through plunging, but occasionally these blockages cannot be cleared without professional assistance.

Hair, food waste, and congealed soap are just a few of the causes of blocked waste pipes. The task usually involves disconnecting the waste pipework and clearing the blockage manually using the appropriate equipment and therefore, the blockage must be cleared by a trained professional.

At ASP Plumbing & Heating Services, we possess the equipment and expertise to tackle common household blockages, whether it be on a bath, shower, kitchen sink or external drain. Some major blockages may be beyond our capabilities to clear and in this instance we will refer you to a specialist drainage company.

Water Leaks

Water leaks can go unnoticed for weeks, if not months, and if left untreated can have a devastating effect on décor and even the structure of the building. It is not uncommon for leaks under floors to rot structural timber, such as joists and bearers, which is why the issue must be addressed as soon as it is apparent.

Leaks from baths and showers caused by poor sealant or defective waste traps are a common cause of water marks on ceilings. Damaged central heating pipes, hot & cold feeds, and waste pipes can also be origins of water leaks.

If you suspect a leak in your home, try to monitor it. If the leak appears worse when you take a shower or bath, then the seals or waste pipes could be at fault. If the pressure on your heating system is dropping, there could be a leak on your central heating circuit or boiler. Information such as this can be useful during the diagnostic process. If you notice a water mark on a wall or ceiling, do not delay in calling ASP Plumbing & Heating Services. We are experienced in locating household leaks and can usually diagnose the problem within an hour. If the source of the water leak is difficult to diagnose, then the use of a thermal imaging camera may be required. See our section on thermal imaging for more details.

Burst Pipes

In the event of a burst pipe or leak, it is essential that you contact a professional immediately. In the interim it is advised that you attempt to locate your stopcock as quickly as possible in order to isolate the water supply to the property. This can usually be found under the kitchen sink, under the stairs, or in water main cover outside your property. If you have a burst pipe, leak or are struggling to isolate your water supply, call ASP Plumbing and Heating Services on 020 3858 0277.

Tap Repairs and Replacements

Dripping or leaking taps can add unnecessary costs to your water bill. They can typically be rectified by replacing the washer or cartridges. However, in some instances, it is easier and more cost effective to replace the tap. If your existing tap brand cannot be identified or if the spare parts are not readily available, then the next course of action would be to replace the tap. We can advise on a variety of types and brands.

Taps come in two main types: traditional taps and quarter-turn taps. Traditional taps rely on a rubber washer that, once worn or perished, will cause the tap to drip as it cannot fully stem the flow of water. Quarter-turn taps rely on a ceramic disc cartridge that typically requires replacing if the tap is dripping.

We have the experience of installing and repairing a large range of tap styles and brands including Bristan, Franke, Dornbracht, Hansgrohe, Crosswater and Quooker. For more on Quooker boiling water taps click here.
